🌱Terpenes and terpenoids are the primary constituents of the essential oils of many types of plants and flowers with extremely high concentrations found in cannabis plants. They determine the smell & are major biosynthetic building blocks. Steroids, for example, are derivatives of the triterpene squalene.🌱

💐Terpenes play a vital role in plants. Some protect, helping the plant to recover from damage, they cause a strong reaction to repel predators, such as insects or foraging animals; others act as a part of the plant’s immune system to keep away infectious germs, increase disease resistance, attraction of pollinators, as well as potentially plant-plant communication.💐

🌲Pinene’s naturally piney scent can be found in cannabis, helichrysum, frankincense, rosemary, and pine needles. Studies have found that alpha-pinene exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, could protect the skin from UV damage & that both alpha- and beta-pinene have anti-cancer properties.🌲

🌺Linalool’s floral aroma is found in lavender, cannabis, birch bark, coriander & camellia (the tea plant). It is reported to promote calm and relaxation. Linalool vapors decrease anxiety and depression-like behaviors, makes the immune system more resilient against the effects of stress, may improve sleep quality due to slightly sedative properties & could also reduce pain sensitivity by blocking pain signals in the spinal cord.🌺

One of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis, CBD is the second most well known to THC.

Every mammal has an #endocannabinoid system (ECS) made up of receptors (CB1 & CB2) which are stimulated by cannabinoids - hence the effects both CBD & THC are known to have on the human body & mind.

While it is still being researched, studies link our ECS to the function of our immune system, reproductive system, mood, memory, pain & sleep functions to name a few!

CBD has become popular because it is non psychoactive, so won’t get you high while it is working it’s magic✨

The CBD we use in our balms is extracted using CO2 super critical extraction, which uses no heat or other potentially dangerous solvents and produces a full spectrum extract with many cannabinoids and terpenes still intact. Just like Mother Nature intended!

Sea Buckthorn Oil - a native to the east coast of England, sea buckthorn can be found growing in sand dunes, distinguishable by it’s orange berry. Extracted from the berries, leaves and seeds, this oil is rich in nutrients, reduces inflammation, protects against sun damage and has healing properties when applied to skin 🍊✨

We hand make all of our balms in small batches from our certified kitchen in Newcastle upon Tyne. To achieve optimal formulations, we have tried and tested all of our recipes on ourselves, which we originally developed for our own personal use.
